Vanuatu is unique. The only 5 or 6 star hotel to 'visit' is the M Y Keri Lee. Once you leave Port Vila you will be amazed at this unspoilt paradise. We cruised this area for 2 months and after leaving Port Vila we never once saw or anchored next to another boat. If the live and very active volcanoes don't intrigue you, you can visit the island of Pentacost and witness the land diving. Something akin to one of the wonders of the world.
Can you imagine a naked native, 30 metres in the air on a tower that has been constructed by the men of the village with 2 x 30 meter vines tied to his ankles? A 30 metre tower with 30 metre vines. Surely if they jump they will hit the ground head first - you're right you know! You truly have to see it to believe it. If that is not enough excitement you can go and see some of the most colourful and spectacular native dancing to be seen anywhere in the world.
To slow the pace you can visit the island of Gau and watch the grass skirted, bare breasted women make music by slapping the water. It is truly amazing. If you want to get away and do nothing you can anchor inside an extinct volcano with its towering sides and visit the beautiful native village inside the volcano. You don't have to work hard for the seafood here as the natives will bring you live lobsters and fish to put into the lobster tank onboard the M Y Keri Lee. Sometimes you might have to pay $2 a lobster! Of course, scuba diving, visiting one of the many fresh water waterfalls in the area or just sitting on the beach under a huge Banyan tree the size of the Keri Lee is also an option.
